Hi,
I'm new to this forum - I hope I am posting this in the right place.
I have just been given a Rootes 6.5 hp engine. I can't find much info about them on the net. It turns over OK, and seems in reasonable condition. Does anyone know anything about these engines, or know where I can find some info ( I have googled of course, but haven't turned up much.
Thanks,
John

Can't help much I'm afraid, but my curiosity has been tweaked......could it be one of those early portable fire pump engines?

I can take a pic no problem, but I have looked around here, and don't see instructions for including a pic in a post. Do I have to put the image on some server and provide a link, or can I upload the image to the forum?

According to the 1960 Motor Boat and Yachting Manual, the only 6.5hp British outboard was the Coventry Victor SS8, four stroke engine: 340cc, weight 115 lbs, shaft length 22.25 inches with three and six inche lengthening sections for £133 10s
Did Rootes-Lister take over Coventry Victor, I wonder?

Try the mobo cvhat forum, you need the attention of a user by the name of 'Byron', he'll know.
