RUG meeting tonight
      #1856996 - 13/05/2008 12:29

Don't know if anyone is aware of this? Brayman? Angelaq?
I had a call from a chum at Harleyford to say that there was a RUG meeting somewhere in that area in which the EA would be discussing the proposed lock cottage sell off. They were trying to get some representation from boaters in the area.
Strange how EA have kept quiet about this?

I heard about it at the weekend, but promptly forgot about it while resolving Eberspacher issues on Shirlian! I gather it is taking place at the RAF place at Medmenham but I don't know what time nor where exactly in the RAF site it is.
Andrew Graham of the EA is supposed to be explaining.

We have a representative at RUG 7 (Boulters to Bell Weir). I assume this is RUG 6 meeting (Marsh to Boulters).

I believe the ATYC are represented at the meetings.

Thanks Ian.
That must be in the area of Daneshill? Just above Hurley lock.
I do vaguely remember mention of the SAS building which is very close by.
It would be helpful if the RUG website included date and place of next meeting!

So, is the place on the waterside near the sailing club?

The Royal Air Force Watersports Centre (Danesfield) is located just off the A4155 between Marlow and Henley, not far from the Service Families Accommodation at Medmenham. From Marlow, go straight on at the roundabout opposite the Medmenham Patch and the SAS Institute. Travel on down the hill past the Danesfield Hotel on the left. As the road bears right at the bottom of the hill, take the sharp left and proceed down the track for 500m where you will find the Royal Air Force Watersports Centre (Danesfield) on the right.

Plenty of lockkeepers in attendance... Nigel from Marsh, Dave from Temple, Duncan from Marlow, Adam from Cookham, Athur the district relief and Simon he marlow relief. Also a number of HMYC members turned up.
Andrew Graham was given a very hard time and was unable to give decent answers to most questions asked.
We were all "gagged", and threatened with disciplinary procedures if we spoke out of turn. Kim and Emma both gave Andrew a public tongue-lashing and got applauded by everyone...

So when are we likely to see official and detailed minutes of the meeting, hopefully then we will be able to see the questions and answers? Or perhaps you or someone else that was there could put some more meat on the bones?

Who are Kim and Emma?

We have been hearing rumours of disiplinary action against lock keepers for some time now. Can you be more specific?

If angelaq reads this it would be nice to hear the EA side on these rumours.

Kim and Emma are the Cookham and Relief lockkeeper's wives who were on Radio Berkshire a week or so ago.
