We have had great success with caravan sleeping bags. They zip together to form a double, have the consistency of a duvet, and are very snug.

We previously used the cocoon type sleeping bags, and they are no fun at all.

Or the correct way round for the first week then inside out for the second week! - easy to get 2 weeks out underwear.

Me: Definitely duvet – we have two singles as the V-berth is too wide for a double at the head end and there’d be no room for the tootsies at the sharp end with a king-size.

For Mr Kingfisher, may I recommend a length of drainpipe for his arm. Earplugs optional in case Mrs K is not amused…

Sheet under and Sheet / fleece blanket / duvet / or any combination of the three, depending on temperature.

We use a quilt then have a fleece throw that goes over the top for when it's cold (and to collect all the dog hairs during the day when she's sleeping on our bed ). Washing is then limited to bottom sheet and duvet cover, plus fleece throw when necessary.

You can get single sleeping bags that zip together to make a double sleeping bag - if you put the zips to the sides, then you can both get out independently (ours came from Argos many moons ago). They also go in the washing machine but take ages to dry properly

I generally sleep under the influence whenever possible

I've always found cocoon sleeping bags over rated... Zipping two big square ones together causes arguments "I'm boiling, well I'm freezing" sort of thing. So we now play "Steal the Duvet" which is always lots of fun when you wake up in the morning and you got the whole thing...RESULT!!!
