A Plan is hatched. Have a look on Scuttle. New post by Me. Back a Page one by Little Ship. L Ship had a Plan, I had a Plan. L Ship has to Plan early cos His boat is SSOOOO SSLOWWWW!
Anyway. IOM was the Origional Destination. L Ship, well He suggested a closer Gig. Fair play to the Mariner. So. An early June date is proposed, well, actually decided. See, what it is, We have quite a few Newbie Guys about the Place who want to do a cruise together. Peeps from Conwy, Deganwy, Holyhead, Port Dinorwic and even such far flung Harbours as Porthmadoc etc etc.
So the Plan is to meet up at Porth Dinllaen. Why there ?I here You ask. Tiss a cracking spot with a 'Proper Pub' on the Beach. So that answers that! Good anchorage etc etc too! So for Newbs and Salty dogs together tiss a good place to go.
Friday the 13th? Well we aint superstitious are we peeps? June that is. Weather depending of course. So maybe the Sat 14th or the Sun 15th. Who knows? That is the Plan at the Mo. For info Porth Dinllaen 53/ 56.68N 04/ 33. 66W Weather permitting and all that stuff. Boats to gather from the 13th and 14th. Rest Day 15th. Move out 16th. That's the Plan. I know it won't work out Exact. Hey! No Plan no go!
Plan B. Porthmadoc a few weeks later. Plan C IOM a few weeks later again. Plan D SV country (Malahide if yer head has been in the Sand lately) fer a drop Of Guiness and Cranberry juice! Round about August. A bit ambitiious I here you say. Listen up. We need to get about this Season, weather permitting. Fore the Juice go's Daft. Well, that's what I intend to do! Shout on ere of You can make it. PM if yer really wants ter go! K

Aha - you got my number shipmate. It would be good to rope in raven as well. Porthdinllean is great when the wind (or better light breeze) is in the SW as it is sheltered. Not like last time i came to you with a N. Westerly...

Where have You been? On Holiday again I suppose! DON'T bring a NW with You. Little Ship thought Porth Din would be a handy place to gather. So's Raggies like Raven and Searush etc could get there within the four day window! And L Ship

Its a long story.Basically we have no timetble, but we should be somewhere near on or around that time,SWMBO wants to see as much of the country as possible on the way up so nothing is confirmed yet,The basic outline is like this 24th of this month we fly to Bremen,End of the month from Leer to Ijmuiden couple of days there and then to Shotley overnight and start our run round the coast to Dover and then ooopp north via Newlyn and Padstow. We could plan our trip to coincide with the meet,we possibly will only be able to do part of the meet with you but it woud be good to put some faces to the names. But as i said we havnt made a specific timetable(make it up as we go along )

Hey up Rich - sounds like a good plan. Might be able to do the weekend meet but need to get back to work after that to pay for the new boat!
Was planning move down to PD in June anyway. Is there still plenty of room in the outer marina?

I was there yesterday and the "Council Estate" is filling up quickly because they have removed the pontoons on the sea wall by the fuel berth as the was has sagged even further and the 'berthees' out there have been re-distributed between the dock and the harbour.

Are the locals friendly? no spears or anything being flung about is there?

Yep, we are in, but with our 'limited' onboard facilities we will probably just join in on Sunday.
On the other hand if the weather is really good, and I take a lot of wine, we might stay the night.

I am planning to be around Conwy Friday 6th, Saturday and Sunday so we should get to meet.
I transit the Swellies most weekends, but I would take Kawasaki or the Major up on the offer as they live in there?

Hactually James was L Ship's Idea. Tom thought Porth Dinllaen or Porth Wen.
My origional Idea was the IOM.
Porth Dinllaen is an I deal venue for a number of reasons. The Pub obviously! A No. of new peeps about the place can use the trip to gain experience. And by beer for the more experienced. Well, it's only right. We gotta have a 'Pecking Order'
Slower vessels (no names mentioned) can arrive together with Raggies.
And a Poll by Tom on Scuttle revealed that PD was more popular than PW.
So IOM a bit later on. July maybe? Gotta burn some diesel before it gets a bit costly.
Tug. The Natives. Well what can I say?
Now we have electric and Titernet they have become a bit more peacefull. Just don't start singin, stuff like 'Jerusalem' and 'Land of Hope and Glory' in the Ty Coch after a few scoops. Cos yerl think yer Ifor Emanuel in Zulu! Might bring Me Gob Iron. Don't ferget yer Lute And Loot!
Martyn yer welcome anytime there is a Gig.
James thanks fer the piccies.
MedDreamer--- He does have the Knack, don't He.
Pollyanna. Get yer skates on. Lift the blower. As MajorCatastrophe pointed out. Room is deffo at a Premium.
Little Ship. These Sportcruiser Guys? What are We gonna do with them. Life in the fast lane. No time to check owt. 3 hours to Malahide? His brains addled Mate

Dont worry Tom....we know where we heard it first!
Not sure I care for Kwaka's patronising "four days should be enough for raggies to get back and forth" malarchy either.....I reckon I can knock that off from the Port of the Mad Dog in three and a half days - no problem! Even allowing time to sink a pint or two of warm beer out of plastic cups, and run round to the lifeboat station to make a contribution to this family friend
This looks like it has the makings of a cunning and fiendish plan
-------------------- if you smile at me I will understand, cos that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.
