I've just been quoted ~£140 plus VAT per shroud/forestay/backstay for new standing rigging. This excludes fitting.
Does that sound expensive? It's for a 29 foot masthead sloop.

Depends on the fittings you have specified on the ends, and whether you want new bottlescrews. The rigging wire itself is quite cheap (about £1 a metre for 4mm), but a swaged terminal would cost around £16 each end - this according to the last bill I had from Spencers Rigging in February.

Sounds good to me. But what does that include?

Just to clarify - that's £140 plus VAT for each shroud, not including new bottlescrews and not including fitting.
If swaged terminals are £16 each and 6mm wire is around £3 per metre, then a 12 metre long shroud should cost £16 x 2 + £3 x 12 which works out at £68. I'm being charged double that. Or is my calculation flawed?

I took all mine off(mast already down) and took it along to a local firm in Sittingbourne Kent. All done with new bottle screws, swaged terminals, and they even supplied the split-pins. under £300 the lot for 27'masthead rig

Sounds expensive. Most riggers now use bottlescrews that have one end that swages on to the wire, so each shroud has one swage and one bottlescrew included.

Try a quote from Jimmy Green. I was very surprised at his prices when I re-rigged last October. Service and supply time was excellent too.

Very expensive. I've been quoted £103 for each cap for my Fulmar and that's in 7mm Dyform. By ZSpars by the way.
