can anyone recommend a small waterproof vhf, suitable for clipping onto life jacket / trouser pocket that has a good range?
i have fixed station on board but wanted something for tender and occasional mooring uses?

Well, in this months MBM they do a good test of 6 HH Vhf sets.

They rate the Entel HT640 as a best buy because of its light weight and deeper water proof protection

The Standard Horizon HX270E also got a nod on price

I sear by ICOM they also do a floating unit now which is important, its no good having a fully waterproof unit if you drop it and it sinks in deep water.

ICOM M33

I bought this floating unit to replace my ICOM 31, which didn't.

Seems to work well. Haven't tested its buoyancy yet.

Icom M33 is a great unit, but its a bit big for a pocket. I have just bought the M71, from Marine Megastore (139.99 offer). Great set, 6w peak power and very small.

Standard Horizon HX270E it is then. can't really see why i would want to pay £140 for icom unit which does nothing more? and Standard Horizon has good warranty backup?
