I have a friend who is going sailing with us for about five weeks in the summer. His present insurance excludes 'yachting'.
Any recomendations as to companies who will insure the yachtsman for the ususal risks while at sea?

His present insurance excludes 'yachting'.

Why?

Arrogance and seamanship are incompatible.

Pru. insurance. Limit 31days. Excludes over 12 m offshore, excludes island to island sailing and a couple of other less relevant bits.We plan Spain to Greece over 4+ weeks. No idea why.

Noble Marine I think do a yachtmans travel policy or at least did a couple of years ago. Worth a look.

Thanks, will get him to try both. I'm with Pants and didn't realise they covered individuals.

Check with Pants, I think they may cover all crew for travel ins anyway as part of your normal yacht cover.

It's not something that we offer "in-house", as we prefer to stick with insuring boats, however many of of clients were asking for a travel Insurance policy, which could include offshore sailing and / or racing, so we have been able to source a company providing this cover.

See Travel Insurance for Sailors.
