Does anyone know what a 2 cylinder Volvo Penta MD6A engine is worth.
Has been fully refurbished ready to fit. Includes gearbox, starter and Alternator etc.

Also would this engine fit onto a Mercruiser Alpha 1 Outdrive.

Thanks chaps for any information you can give.

The Albin Vega uses this engine and to be honest when the owners replace with a Beta the Volvo is usually thrown away or taken apart for spares. Doubt very much if it will fit on an Outdrive, seen a few fitted to Saildrives.

What does fully refurbished mean/ Have you seen the receipts for teh parts? - A full rebuild is economically not viable so I doubt if this was done. IMHO

Cheers Steve

Many parts are no more available (needed ones eg. cylinderheads) therefore this engine has only scrap value.
Cylindersheads reach gold prices of this engine.

Hi Steve
I'm am informed that this engine was rebuilt with new valves, valve springs, valve lifter, new piston rings etc. It was rebuilt to take the place of another Penta engine but was never fitted to the boat as the boat was sold.
Hence as to date the engine has not been used since the overhaul.

There are some obvious signs that the engine has had some work carried out such as it can clearly be seen, that the valve lifter is new, the valve springs and valve stems look new and it is fitted with a new section of exhaust from the manifold. The water pump is also new.

However, apart from stripping it, all i can assume is, that the engine has been refurbished, but as to what extent, it is impossible to say.

FRANKKLOSE.
It looks too good to strip for spares, + it belongs to a lady who would rather sell it complete.

She also has a Volvo penta dashboard with gauges and wiring harness. A 13x9 prop and prop shaft, a brand new unused 12volt marine battery. Oh! and a MAXXON three man inflatable with outboard bracket, seat, pump, oars all in the original bag and as new.

Anyone out there that can give a rough idea on what the gear is worth, would be helping a lady out. Once she can get a genuine rough idea of some reasonable price and not one from some shark who just wants to rip her off, she can offer the whole lot up for sale.

Thanks chaps.
