Iken is near Snape on the Alde (Benjamin Britten's gay partner Piers was the organist at the church - I think that's right) and the Doctor is a buoy in the Blackwater off Osea Island.

A moment of pedantry from me this morning. Britten's partner was Peter Pears, which I suppose does get username-altered to Piers if you've had a beer or two!

I used to be married to a music teacher and she said that was the only thing that schoolkids remembered - they didn't retain anything about his music

"Iken am going to the Doctor...might just make it on one tide!"

You'd need to be very quick and shoal draft to get from down from Iken and over Ore entrance on one tide. A jetski might do it?

Perhaps he means; leave Iken @ HW, get propelled out of the Ore on the ebb, sail out to the roughs Tower for a leisurely lunch and on to the Blackwater to get to Osea for the next HW. It's not what I would call one tide, but you never know with some people.
