I am considering purchasing and fitting the navman w3100s wind instrument. They seem reasonably priced but are they robust? I would appreciate some feed back from any of you wonderfull people who have fitted one....

thanks

I fitted the Navman 3150 Analogue wind last winter.

So far I am very happy with it...

I fitted the Navman 3150 Analogue wind several winters ago.

So far I am very unhappy with it...

ps. actually, I fitted 3100 wind, Speed, Dept instruments. They seem ok'ish although all three regularly suffered from condensation inside the display heads, and were sent back - **twice**. The replacements are showing the same and I'm going to live with it.

The Wind instrument never worked from the first install. I never managed to diagnose the problem, went sailing instead. The little whirly-gig on the top of the mast fell off soon after, so I couldnt expect it to work then.

Last weekend we hauled out, and SWMBO banged the wind display, glass cracked down the middle.

The mast is down at the moment, so I will be looking at it next weekend. Hopefully I can get a replacement masthead and get it to work. Hopefully the glass will survive with a bit of clear sealant for the moment.

Not all of this is Navmans fault obviously, but I was always sorry I didnt buy Raymarine ST60's - got tempted by the 3100s instead at the boat show. BTW Navman have been taked over by a large american marine conglomerate (I've forgotten the name of), and the 3100s are being rebranded Northstar as far as I know. Therer was concern about that the line might even be dropped, (check it out before you buy if it concerns you).
