My little Fibrecell dinghy is missing( it was fibreglass and broke) the ring that fits betwean the hole in the foredeck and the mast taking the wear of the mast. Is this sort of 'bearing' available for dinghys generally or are they specific to each make? Where could I buy one? Thanks Peter

Have a look at Optimist spares... try this, half way down the page.... they use a similar fitting on Oppies, and its a very common replacement requirement....

If it is circular, consider getting a bit of plastic pipe or ducting of the correct diameter & cutting a couple of inches off. If it works, you will get a lifetimes supply of deck collars for a couple of quid. Could even sell some on e-bay for a small profit!

Getting a bit of pipe should be no problem but this has to be secured to the hole in the deck. Putting a collar on the mast means that the collar rather than the mast will be wearing the hole in the foredeck away. The collar is essentially sacraficial. I am using the wrong term really, it should be mast sleeve!! Thanks and regards.
