Round knurled 5mm nuts
      #1862068 - 17/05/2008 10:52

Anyone know where I can get some replacement round knurled nuts for my tiller extension?

They are 5mm thread, 15mm long x 14mm wide, in ally (or brass for that matter).

www.a2a4.co.uk do stainless steel M5 knurled thumbnuts, but may not be the exact length and diameter you want.

Only a few moments work for a small machine shop to make exactly what you want. Or anbody with a small lathe and a knurling tool for that matter.
Not friendly with anyone in a local school or college technology department I suppose.

No, don't know anyone in that sphere, but I do have a very helpful SS worker.

I may have to ask him for a piece of ally bar and the knurling tool, and make it myself - at A2A4 price of £5.52 for 2 nuts delivered!!

5 mins thinking time later.

In fact, just thought. I will make it in Tufnol and bond in some 5mm SS nuts. I've got plenty of Tufnol.

Could you use a plastic knob with threaded bush from RS?

I'll have a look at RS, so long as it is not plain steel thread..

Many thanks for the pointer.
