I was out in my Broom Ocean 37, and the steering on the upper helm became completely unresponsive, the wheel just turned freely, I switched to the lower helm, so getting back was fine.
I've since taken the upper helm steering wheel apart and it appears a bit of bakelite/plastic, the holds the wheel onto the shaft has broken. The bakelite is black, circular, around 4cm from outer edge to outer edge, and 21mm across the inner hole. It is flat along the outer bottom edge, and has a notch in the middle hole which slots into a tiny bit of metal welded onto the steering shaft.
The steering wheel has silver spokes and the part you hold is wooden.
I've attached a couple of pictures, does anyone have a replacement for the plastic, or know where I can get one?
Or even does anyone know what brand the steering wheel is?

Looks very similar to the one that broke on my Princess. Its a spacer to convert one type of taper to another to allow different wheels to be fitted. I got a new one from www.asap-supplies.com Look on their steering wheel page. Lucky you had an interior helm!

Thanks guys, I was getting worried I would have to superglue it. Looking on the ASAP site it seems to be exactly what I want!
