As many on here already know, I have come a little late in life to the world of boating that some of you have been doing for years (please ignore the envious tone ) but since I bought my Debutante, all I have done is work on her to get ready to launch and go sailing. It's taken months to get her from this

To this weekend, where yet again I rubbed down the entire upper hull and painted again, before finally getting to this

Ignore the look, I was under orders to pose and the dog walked around the corner
Now I really can't decide wether I should wet & dry yet again (thanks for the lessons Matt) or just say that enough is enough, and get the rest completed ready to launch.
Would appreciate any comments folks, you have more experience than me, so should I stop working on the hull yet, or not ?
Yours Knackered of Spalding

Nah - get out sailing and scratch it with fenders, cover it in seagull poo, dent it with anchor chain, like a real sailor. Looks pretty good for a beginner
At least we can see in the reflection that you have been tidying your workshop ....

It will take time for the paint to fully harden now especially with the number of coats. Time to move on to next job, rubbing strake etc. Time to sail so that you can spend all next winter repairing scuffs, fender marks etc. Unless, of course she is so intuitive to handle that she never disgraces herself in close quarters situations.

For god's sake Dave, stop farting about, get her launched and go sailing. Learn this simple truth, the sailing season is short enough without spending it doing winter jobs. Get her launched, go sailing.

You do realise that summer has come and gone and that autumn is around the corner.
Get her onto the water and sail her.
She is looking grand.

Choice of 4 answers:
1. We've all heard of trolls on the forum. Is this an earlier recorded case of a different category - a gloater on the forum?
2. The answer to your question depends on whether you want to achieve a reasonable gloss or shine....
3. The deeper the shine, the sadder you will be at the first blemish.
4. Umm, look get out there. She's perfect. (You're gloating.....

I used Wickes 5 year enamel on my Caprice - roller applied in two 1 hour sessions - attracted good comments, wearing well - similar colour to yours - as they say launch! In a day or two, you'll be more concerned about that muddy streak on your topsides - you'll never notice your lovely finish.

Yep Dave, get her in. As others have said, after the first few blemishes, knocks and scratches, perfection will take on a new meaning.
