River reports please
      #1876203 - 30/05/2008 10:59

Reds all the way up this morning and river definitely flowing more strongly than yesterday.
I have decided to stay put at Windsor - probably unable to get into my marina at Chertsey anyway as water level too high to get under marina bridge.

Would be great if those of you close to the river could add your info here as it may take a couple of days for this to improve.

May be the EA trying to getv the level down for the weekend boaters. Not unusual.
If you are at Windsor and feeling bored, you could keep an eye open for Seaward (Birchwood 33), G n' T (Birchwood 33GT) and Cavalier (Freeman 27). All friends and fellow members of UTMYC. Believe they are by the swimming pool?

The river from Henley to Marlow is still under reds. Came back down this morning and was hoping to get closer to Bray but stopped in Marlow again as the flow is alot stronger and higher than yesterday. On the plus side - I saved a shed load in fuel coming back down

Still running fast and a little high (2ft) here.

Mind you, a (very slow) NB just went by, travelling upstream. As did the boat with my favourite name - cirrhosis of the river

Thanks Mike but I am having to relieve my boredom by mundanity as I am in Windsor Marina, not down by the town.

I really am feeling frustrated that the EA have not yet been able to come up with a more real-time information system for communicating river conditions. Not just immediate conditions but also at least some indication of their estimate of easement. In many cases the lock keepers can only tell you the current situation at their own location.

With Web Content Management systems there is no excuse for the info available from the river conditions notline (whoops, sorry, lukewarm or tepid line at best) not being available an the web. There has not been a single email about the current conditions. I think I may take a trip to Reading and offer them a PowerPoint presentation on what it is like to be ON the river holed up without having some idea of when normality might return.

Once again, we are getting better info from forumites.

Hi all went up from datchet to Bourne end yesterday and came back to the mooring below romney lock today. Red boards all the way contrary to the ea info line. Took less than half the time to get back than going up. Fast stream but been in worse. But river very quiet only one barge behind us all the way down. The old birchwood behaved impecably.say back at the mooring now. Have to pop home tomorrow morning but coming back for the afternoon.

Still here in Marlow. The rivers still up but looking out this morning it does look as though it peaked last night.
Gonna swing the old gal downstream and back to Bray later.

Oh nothing against Freemans but a big 33 was being towed upstream back to Harleyford today
