No, but the Windsor & Maidenhead Council did, but on the other side of the river South Bucks District Council wouldn't give permission. Hence when they came to build the flood relief channel it had to go through through the South bucks area. Bit unfair!

It is called a gauging station. When I cycled past it a few weeks ago just after the river had gone from red to yellow boards, it was showing 129 cu metres per sec for what its worth. There are hundreds of these stations around the country. Used for flood defence I believe.
