Oh no Brendan, that is bad news. I sincerely hope that the resolution on the film is good enough for the CPS.

I am so cross. It was three lads and I have a clear picture of them on the CCTV, so they will get caught. They have smashed the windscreen using a catapult. grrrrrrrrrr

Barstewards!
I think most of us know what it's like to have as boat vandalised or stolen from, so can sympathise But that is severe!
My lovely Binliner has just had her new outdrive trim system fitted along with a few other parts thanks to these scroats Unfortunately crime is universal, and cannot be left in the UK when I go over, unlike most other things I dislike about this country.

At least I have photos. A young lad smashed the bridge lights some time ago. When he saw the CCTV he cried and was repentant - enough for me, he saw he was wrong. These lads have smashed my windscreen and it is not a trivial problem.
I will see how insurance works and get the window fixed.
I was impressed by the police last time so I will give them a few weeks to solve it
I know which school they go to if the police do not solve it. And I think they are from good families.

p.s. what makes me sad is that Geoff was on that mooring last weekend. I asked him to move to the front of the island for peace and quiet... if that had happened to him I would have been distraught. And violent. And then who would have been in the wrong, legally?

Very cheap - and this is what annoys me about the local council. They quote "it costs £50k to run a camera". Bollocks. Chuckaduck has a system that is commercial but is a fraction of that price... and proven. I use a low spec, obsolete PC with remote HD (in case someone breaks into the shed and thinks they've stolen everything). The quality is high, the technology is basic (but more advanced than the council can understand), and, as proved here... it works.

To me that picture looks good enough to publish in the local rag!

Really wish you the best of luck in following this up, it would be a welcome change to get a bit of justice - I know they're kids, but they know what they're doing is wrong, so that's no excuse.

I got it from these guys . The link is to the current version of the camera I use. It is connected to the PC via a Geovision card, which can handle up to four cameras and also give you live streaming on the web.

Sorry to hear about the damage
Not from your part of the world, but if you can identify them could you take civil action against them / the parents for the damage caused?
Appreciate that Police nicking them would be nice, but IMO hitting folk in the pocket works very well for thinking twice in the future........at the very least put them to expense and aggro of their own lawyer.....
Just a thought.......

Excellent idea, felt like doing exactly that myself but thought it best not to interfere.

If it was my boat i would have posted the picture all over Staines . The last vandal that touched my boat is still sporting the scars , not that i touched him . He went body surfing on the pavement while running away Grown man with a very good job , so i am told

How awful for you. The money and time to make the repairs is one thing, but it's just so disheartening to see such irresponsible, mindless vandalism.
But it's brilliant that you've got such evidence. I do hope both the school and parents take these kids to task. Hopefully they'll be too ashamed to do anything stupid like this again.
Good luck and please do let us know how things transpire.

A short update:
- the Head of the school phoned me, confirmed that lad’s identity, implied that he knows the others but will leave that to the police… and is going to talk with the boy and his parents. - The local bobby has just been to see me. He recognises two of the boys. The one firing the catapult is a problem in the area. The act of firing the catapult is an offence. He has no lives left in terms of slapped wrists, so he’s going to court. - The picture is going in the local press to get the identity of the third boy and also to generate awareness that antisocial behaviour can be caught and stopped - The damage is estimated at being between £500 and £1000!!!! It looks like I have a trip to Sheridan Marine, unless someone knows somebody closer to Staines?
Thanks for all the good wishes and help.

Nice one Brendan.
I hope the repairs are prompt and proper too!
