My first time on the Thames Forum, so please be gentle with me....
I am trying to organise a private river boat charter for a party of about 20 peeps to make a retirement and a resignation from the firm. Hoping to find a nice boat of the right size that will be available for a day towards the end of this month. We are pretty flexible about starting and finishing points, and could cope with most locations upstream of Embankment.
Anyone got any suggestions ( or even own such a boat )?
Thanks in advance.

There are quite a few, some with larger boats which prob too big for your group. You might like to start with these. Salters Steamers 01865 243421 French Brothers 01753 851900
If you are looking for some character you might like to ask about steam cruisers.

When you say upstream of Embankment how far? are you looking to keep it tidal i.e. in London or are you happy to go out of town, windsor way? there are of course plenty in between and further up!

Our office is in Chelsea and we are looking for a nice day out on the river. No fixed plans at all, it's just we thought going upstream would be nicer than going downstream. We could, I guess, start anywhere between Embankment and Maidenhead/Reading?? We would like a boat roomy enough for about 20 of us, but not such a big one that the price would be unrealistic, plus we would be rattling around inside it!
All suggestions gratefully received!

Hi and welcome. As your party exceeds 12 people you are best advised to go to someone like Salters, French's, Turks or the like. In short a professional outfit.

If you are looking for a Tideway cruise , get in contact with WPSA on 0207 930 2062 or www.wpsa.co.uk. , they will pick up from Chelsea .
Failing that , try Colliers Launches on http://www.collierslaunches.co.uk/ , they run on the Tideway and come upstream as far as Hampton Court if you want.
Best wishes

Try Chas Newens. They are in Putney, do private hire, and might have something to suit...

Dear old Chas. The charmer of Bishops. He scammed the Bishop of London when the Bishop was still an Oxford Student. He sold him an outboard which if you selected forward it went into reverse and vice versa. He told the Bishop it was supposed to be that way because it was an Australian model... something like that anyway. Chas is an old mate of mine and I love him to bits.
