Hello again all. Well, the boats coming up to Portishead by road at the weekend- cant wait to get my toy back close to home again!!
Was wondering if there are any nice sheltered spots to anchor and soak up the scenery within a short cruise from Portishead that arent in a fast tidal stream..... Weather looks quite nice at the weekend, so its got me thinking!!

Hi there. in quiet weather you can anchor in any of the Bays on the chart over the hightide . depending on wind direction Weston Bay near brean Down can be a pleasant place(seriously unpleasant with a fresh onshore wind) .In a westerly wind you can anchor on the East side of flatholme Island. The foreshore is strewn with rocks and old bits of concrete so dont edge in too far.
Theres a quiet pool to the East of St Thomass Head.
Not sure how far you want to go Porlock Bay is OK in s or sw wind.

First Lady gets launched by Damo in Portishead this afternoon. (And Damo didn't drop it!)
First Lady, if your interested in tagging along as a 1st trip, we are locking out at 9am Saturday (Yes tomorrow) morning heading for Bristol harbour. Staying overnight and coming back Sunday. You could lock out on the evening tide and back to Portishead if you did not want to stay overnight. All a bit soon I know, but you are most welcome. We will also be meeting up with "Sneddon" in Bristol.
