A GOOD heat guns essential the best arnt made anymore??Bosh do a VERY expensive one with a temp gauge!!variable heat but it puts out enough hot air to work quickly the model below dosent!!(i know cos ive got one!!It was on sale and half the price of the good one)

I found the best solution to this problem was using a small gas torch, similar to the ones plumbers use to braze joints. Only cost €15 inc gas and seeing as I didn't have any power anyway it was extra handy. It definitely gets the heat up but you have to be extra careful.

These are really very good, (as long as you have a very good vacunm) but still takes hours of hard graft, I do have one, but hasnt been in use for a couple or three seasons, as the blasting took all of the crap off, I'm now building it up again! Been there done that, I think is the expretion! Or spelling similar!

Sory late and lots of estrella (spanish beer!)

Re:GelPlane ProScraper
With the prospect of removing goodness knows how many years of antifouling from my 100 year old yawl I bought one of these. Obviously Tom (Littleship) found it really useful. I found it pretty useless! (See my earlier post). If you want mine you can have it. PM me if you're interested.

Has it got a blade in it

Seriously, I use mine for removing all sorts of gunk not just anti foul. I have used it loads for removing varnish and if you ever see Little Ship you will understand. If you use it on the hull it is a good idea to round the corners of the blade so it wont dig in!

Just a comment out of the blue: why removing the old anti-fooling ? in front of that situation, my only answer was the personal urge to do things well and be tidy. I decided that was not enough to justify the effort and from then on, using soft anti-fooling should not add more layers.
