Not the Weather, not the Stream, but your new resident Birchwood 25....

We should be arriving next Sunday, late afternoon. All we have to figure out is how to get two of us, the small Dog and our weekend luggage from Bray to Reading...

We're booked in until next April

Which pontoon?
Sorry I cannot help with transport next weekend - I am running a Scout Camp at Thames Young Mariners.

We're on a bankside berth (On a pontoon however) D7.
We'll use the little carpark next to your one by the toilet block, but instead of going through your gate, we head down the path towards the River!
There were none on I, G or H

They did up those pontoons last winter. Not far to stagger back to the boat when you are at the party!

Cheaper by 10%, and with both Water and power, but no gate...
Fair exchange

Our plan is as follows:
Arrive at Bray at 5pm to park car.
Get to Reading, around 16 miles, and attend Thames & Kennet marina party, before overnighting on boat and leaving early to get back to Bray.
Problem at the moment is getting between marinas...
If anybody can assist, I would rather pay a fair rate than get a Taxi

That would be most kind if possible. It goes without saying you would be fairly recompensed for your time, effort and expenses, and we're not talking about a fiver for petrol either

The final plan appears to be as follows:
Leave work at 4 PM arrive at Bray at 4:45 PM
Scrounge lift 15 miles to Caversham, attend Marina party (Result eh?)
Depart Reading next morning, est journey time 6-8 hours
Arrive at Bray approx 4-5 PM

So, with your imminent departure from T&K and taking all things into consideration, then all in all, Bray Marinas' loss is T&K's gain

Now, in the old days David Sheriff would have had your length reconfirmed (by Ron) and not let you leave before you had paid up for any discrepancies in their figures.

In the old days, I would have been paying a lot less per metre
For the record, the annual contract was for a longer boat than the current one, and the berth was empty for around two months while Shamby was for sale.
I must be owed a few quid on your assumption!
There's never much to be gained when all the boats I owned had the length in the name, such as the Shetland 570, Rio 26 and now the Birchwood 25.
Bray are actually going to measure a Birchwood 25...get that!

I wouldn't mind if I was trying to sneak in with a Birchwood 22, but the 25 was the longest one of that kind.
Mind you, I might have done a cut n'shut I suppose.

Don't forget to leave the boat in the shade for a while before they measure it. Heat expansion will cost you a wad!

Ah, but it's also another chapter in the rise of the UTBM
Today, Bray. Tomorrow, the whole Thames...We will unite Birchwood owners everywhere...crush the Freeman owners like the insects they are...long live the Upper Thames Birchwood Massive....
Did I say 'Hello' by the way?

The Dutch build boats out of Ferrous Oxide, but there is not much wood in a Birchwood!

One of the more popular threads at the moment.
Lots of people interested in Bray Marina and the arrival of No Regrets!
Does anyone on the BCC committee know if he has been approved for membership?
(or did the Black balls get lost in the post?)

Apparently his membership application has been lost in transit...
I'm sure Brayman can advise when he reappears.
