Thought it might be worth mentioning that a customer came into the chandlery today to buy extra mooring stakes as they had been cast adrift around the Shepperton Manor area along with several other boats around the last bank holiday. Fortunately this was when the stream wasn't so fast and no damage was done, but these stories are popping up frequently at the moment and perhaps it should be stressed the importance of laying an anchor for overnight moorings on public moorings?

It`s a problem that has always been with us …I can remember being cast off in the seventies and only realising when the tele picture went wonky as the boat swung out… Anchor is the best bet ….
I have been toying with an idea to make up a mooring spring to go onto the center cleat ….padlocked on the inboard end and made of ¼” steel wire rope….
