Do the Nm ones also measure the return? Its some time now since I dealt with this and chose the Floscan, so I am going from memory.
For diesel engines it is necessary to monitor both flow and return. All flow meters for diesel do this. The (now unavailable!) Navman 3200 unit covered engines with a max flow of 400 litres per hour and a minimum return flow of 25 litres.

Yes, two senders per engine, one for the delivery and one for the flow.

There used to be a brilliant unit from Mecdine that converted the engine to self priming (before this was common) and incorporated the return into the feed with a fuel cooler and self bleeding unit that took care of air. This only needed the feed. I had one on a Bedford 466 and it worked superbly well. Only cost about a hundred quid as well. Wasn't the demand then, so production stopped.

I have twin 370 hp and I have Tanktender guages which are very accurate.
1/ I really want to know fairly accurately how much the engines burn at certain rpm/speeds. Ie i want to have an economic cruise speed.
2/ I want to evaluate the effect of hull slime and growth.
3/ The Tanktender shows me how much fuel I have quite accurately.
I am proposing being a cheapskate to monitor only one engine as I know they burn pretty much the same fuel.
I can work out the MPG and range using a calculator.
I understand that the simple one is about £500.
I will establish a graph with a clean hull of MPG(GPM) really LPM as i am metric most of the time and from that I can work range.
I dont do much long range runs so range is not an issue.

This appears to be interesting to me too. I had a scout around and found for a single Mercruiser 5.7L V8 EFi, my engine, it could be found for £150. Is this the same thing?

Much simpler device for petrol engines.
Diesel use volumttric senders in the out and return lines. The Petrol version use measure flow not volume one way using a paddle wheel.

Ah, OK, thanks for the explanation, hence the price differential. Might fit one of these then...DIY job?

Easily a DIY job on the most part - the only thing you might need help with is making up the fuel line joints.

Ah thanks. Thinking whether the 55000 or the 70000 or the 90000 now...quite fancy the 90000 because it has the l/nm.
They all seem much cheaper in the USA...anyone know of any UK dealers and prices?

There is a UK dealer - I think they are in Poole. They are expensive.
