hello, some time ago I read about a drill bit that would transform an angle drill in an "electric winch" by turning the winch with this bit into the handle space. A good idea, and I bought the bit from USA. The problem is that I can't buy the "battery angle drill" because from USA they don't send it to italy, and in italy it seem not to exist something similar to this. The suggested drill is the DeWalt 960. Can anybody tell me where can I buy this drill? Thanks.

Google for Dewalt 960.
Here is one to get you started - there are several suppliers on your side of the pond ---------------------

But he's on this (our) side of the pond - that's the problem I think.

Depends which sort. It is possible to get the SL Anchorman converted. I considered this but it is more expensive than buying a new electric unit. Can't comment on any other type.

Find a USA supplier that will ship it to Italy, through Fed X,UPS or DHL.
It is MUCH cheaper than buying one in the UK.
You will want to choose and buy a charger though that is either 12v input or 230volt (Italy). I would go for the 12volt one with a cigarette plug so you can recharge on the boat at sea. And maybe order a spare battery at the same time !

DeWalt doesn't sound as though it is a UK or US make.

I started this ball rolling when I went on a USA website and discovered that USA carribean charterers overcome the problem of no electric winches by taking their own!
IIRC the Milwaukee 28V battery drill (about $360 in USA) produces 600lbsins of torque. The next most powerful one (at that time 12 months ago) was a Dewalt which produce only 300lbsins of torque.
The Milwaukee drill is not sold in the UK. The Milwaukee does the job on my 43'. Fergus also bought one but had a problem "The left-handed bolt that secures the chuck onto the drill has sheared off - it kept on coming loose before but I didn't over-tighten it. Have you had any problems? "
Mine has been OK. A less powerful drill may be OK dependant on size of boat etc I bought a US power converter from Maplins to charge it. USA is 110V and 60Htz.
If you go on the web there are various sites that will send you the drill against a CC purchase but you are liable for Import duty and VAT.
