Please, no nonsense, just need to know if you have one. Does it produce any power? In Amps, please. No questions, info, observations about the noise. We are just interested in the output of the Air X into the batteries. Thanks.

I do. But it is a surprisingly difficult question.; at least with the setup I presently have I cannot answer it. We also have a lot of solar power and occasionally we fiddle around disconnecting each to see what each is doing, but of course it varies so much with battery state.
We will be rewiring over the next few weeks with some cleverer monitoring to give constant readout of each, but even then the answer will not be straightforward.
However, my sense of what happens in moderate breeze (15-20Kn) and low battery state is 'disapointing'. If I was to replace it, it would not be with an air-x.
Sorry not much help!

Ditto - had one on the previous boat. Looking at a Rutland 913 for the current one.

Can you tell me what age your units are? Please. Really only concerned with the AirX and not the Air403 or Air303.
whipper_snapper what state are your batteries when you say 'low'?

One of the boats opposite me has one at the moment and its bloody noisy from 100yds away, what its like on the boat god only knows. When I looked into getting one for the (t)rusty old ketch one of the things i did was wander around marinas listing to them in a strong wind !
personally i bought a rutland 913 and have been very very pleased with it (so far) its been on the mizzen for 2 years and is the ONLY thing charging the batterys as the solar panels I have are useless (no bloody sun).

Can you compare a rutland with an air-x? isn't the air-x a far more powerful machine?
A lot of people on here seem to like them but everyone i have spoken to with one spinning on there boat has said they are dissapointing?
I had a Areo 4 gen on a previous boat an never saw more than 2 amps on the clamp meter?
A friend has one of these and swears by it.

It is MEANT to be a powerful machine. This is the whole point. Trying to find out who has an Air X and basically if they put any power in the batteries! We replaced our AIR marine unit (before they were numbered) which had served us faithfully over nearly 12years. We had no hesitation in ordering a new unit. What a mistake that was! 4 months of testing - unit returned to supplier and faults found, rectified and returned. Only it still doesn't put any power in! So same question. who's got an Air X?

The Air X can be a powerful machine - at a cost.
In a decent blow, it did put measurable power into the bank. At a cost. THE NOISE!!! And it was not just our unit - every one I've seen and heard in action was the same.
Like for like, the Rutland 913 may be slightly less powerful; but it's not meant to be our sole source of power. I would complement it with solar panels.
