The port leg one went last year and during lift out was replaced. IIRC it just failed and i dont recall it casuing problems with alarms on the EVC.
this time its the starboard one!!!! #but this time it said (cant remember exactly) something like drive trim faulty.....suggesting it was too high......trim indicator is showing allsorts....leg does trims but doesnt show anything like reality on the guage. has taught me to balance the boat on its feel rather than the dials...
heres the problem...."apparently" because so many faults......the computer storing says too mant faults.......the evc then kicks the engine into limp mode...switch off....wait 20 seconds and the engine comes out of limp mode....not a lot of good when i am starting a weeks holiday....I dont seem to ba able to go to far without it happening....so a 90 Nm journey is almost a no no!
anyone know a cure? apart from replacing the sensor, which involves a lift out.....

Hi Doug,
Gary has a faulty leg sensor on his D3's Legs.

Ok then
Some serious volvo bashing coming....
the letters i send will not be nice so i hope the others will back me up. my local volvo engineer does wonder why they are mounted outside the leg, where they are prone to allsorts of damage.

If feasible on EVC controlled engines (maybe it isn't), I'd consider removing them. The dials don't take so much space on the dash, but it's space wasted anyway.

Whooops, I would have sweared that Volvo had specific dials for trim - maybe used to be like that on older models? Well, the idea of getting rid of the sensors applies regardless. As you also said, you can actually feel when the position is right. Looking at the wake shape can also help optimizing the trim position, much more than any indicator.

KAD32/44 have their own seperate trim gauge - don't know about the new fancy EVC/EDC ones though - From the feedback here I think i'll stick with the simple KAD's forever

Aha! I've had two boats with those engines in fact, one with the KAD42 and another with the 43. Funny how I didn't remember their trim gauges exactly - gives the idea of how rarely I looked at them.
