Seago lifejackets
      #1913479 - 01/07/2008 12:51

Hello Gents
When Seago recalled some of their lifejackets, i sent mine to them, they were returned to me tested and ok for use.
Just this morning i received two brand new Seago lifejackets in the post, complete with crutch straps and instructions to destroy the original jackets that i sent in for inspection.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Tony

Read something similar myself on the yachting forum .
Contacted seago & they said they had been advised to replace all life jackets within that date of manufacture .
Sent back the labels from old life jackets & waiting for new ones to arrive .
Seems a shame to "destroy the original jackets"

About to send mine back as I have two, interestingly I was talking to a chandler who said that they can't get any new stock out of Seago as they are swamped with the recall one's coming back, he said that they estimate the number to be 150,000. Surely they can't replace that many?

Sent 3 that we had back & got 3 new ones within 2 days, so best service I've had out of almost anyone in the marine industry.

Good to see decent aftersales service although I don't think a company would keep its reputation if it did not act in this way.

Our lifejackets were the first batch after the affected ones but Seago have assured me that they are not affected although they were willing to check them.
