I have seen them in some pretty rough conditions before now. Mishap waiting to happen.

Saw them going out as we were coming back into the Menai. There was quite a swell and breaking waves over the mussel banks. Not ideal conditions for a school trip.
We were opposite Plas Menai when we heard the call from the Coastguard. Headed back to Abermenai to assist if required, but the casualty was being treated on land and it was all in hand by the time we got there.
It didn't look good - but hope the boy recovers ok.

The Plas Menai lot do a worthwhile job, but I saw them out near Mussel Bank a few weeks ago. I turned back due to the wind over tide, but they carried on.
Only need to get caught wrong during the turn back and you are over. I know, as that is where I broached, so I treat it with much respect.

Major - I agree Plas Menai do a great job, one of my crew is an ex Plas Menai windsurfing instructor / safety boat operator.
Just hope this incident does not discourage schools from sending their kids on adventure training. Great training for later on in life.

Yes, but to be fair, we are getting a better class of boat coming into Dinorwic now.

Why thank you, you gallant Major you
Must agree though, I was out a week last Sunday and it was very rough indeed. Wouldn't have gone out but I'd promised my brother and nephews a trip out. Only went as far as Bangor Pier before returning to the relative shelter of the Menai.
Must say I'm still very impressed with the Antares seakeeping. I feel much more confident in this boat than my last.
keep safe Bob

That is what Antares' are all about. But your last boat looked more like a river type boat. I am probably wrong.

You are correct sir. She is a Princess Pilgrim 25 designed for rivers and estuaries. Didn't stop me traveling round large sections of the UK coast line though. Very strongly built but really the wrong type of hull for what I want to do these days.
Really ought to get her ready for sale, but having to much fun in the new boat at the moment.

The R.I.B lost it's anchor over board. Hooked the bottom and dragged the vessel under. Popped up at low water and has been recovered. There are enough places in the Sraits to play in just about any conditions. Don't know why they were where they where.
The situation in Port Dinorwic ref all these French patio door jobs arriving is a bit worrying. At least One owner was seen going out in awfull conditions. But I think He knew his Onions. Actually, such was His Proffesionalism, the Docmeister rang Me. Not to compliment. He was watching the Garlic cruncher's Breifing (spy cam) and thought He was operating commercially! See, Me and the Docmeister have an 'Arrangement' and Brown Envelopes have to been exchanged prior to any such activity!
'Another Forumite' occasional poster and fellow berth holder suggested an 'OAP' trip for peeps in the Area. For Charity, for the RNLI of course. Oh sorry. Organised Attack Persuading peeps purses 2 pour out pennies. Yesterday AM early on I was 'Coordinator in another RNLI 'shout' Tiss a tale that has previous. Tiss a Tale of some Humour. Tiss a Tale to tell a bit later on. The knub of The Occasional posters Charity waterborn do is also to be revealed in the next day or so. Too mutch all at once right now.
Anyway back to the French invasion.
F me guys. I like Garlic. Peeps, these 'Peche Promenades' I,m effin surrounded by them. I thought it was the mud at LW Springs-- not too sure now!
Plus I am now feeling embarassed with me daft boaty hat (admit it, we,ve all got one) feel like I should have a Beret or a Breton cap whatsit!
