Well,
It seems at least one major is struggling. Why do I think this? Well I just got this from them.....and why would they offer these incentives if sales were buoyant!
"Mid Summer Madness at Southern Motorboats
During July and August 2008, Southern Motorboats are going mad! We feel so strongly about the superb quality and value for money of our Jeanneau range of motorboats that we would like to make you not just one offer but lots of them! Buy one of the magnificent Merry Fisher, Cap Camarat, Leader or luxury Prestige boats and we'd like to give you a big "thank you ". Which offer to choose? Well you're the customer after all, so simply select the one that appeals to you most and contact us now to talk about your boat requirements!
Choose from:
Free Insurance, Free Servicing, Free Tender (& Outboard on Prestige), Free Dry Stacking, Free Tropical Island Holiday or a Year's Supply of Champagne"
Just my interpretation of this offer, of course, but I have never been offered any of these in the last 3 years off them!
More details Here
I thought the Prestige's were selling like hot cakes...maybe not! This will maybe take another sale or two from Sealine!
Cheers
Paul

It maybe a Jeaneau thing.
I enquired about a small Cap 360 last month at Lymington Marine Sales, and then a few days ago i got another e-mail from them saying they have reduced the Cap range prices by 10%.
So is that 10% coming from Jeaneau or the Dealer?????
It could be that Southern have decided to offer Free stuff, rather than a 10% discount!

I think a years supply of champagne would make a most attractive incentive - certainly equivalent to a reasonably sized RIB with a pokey engine anyway ....
Oh hang on - its qualified - still, might be enough for those occasional 'Summer days' Ah well ...

Yup, I got the same missive myself and thought straightaway that there was an air of desperation about it. I think the £/€ exchange rate must be killing dealers selling Euro boats in the UK so no surprise if there was some extra help from the factory with bigger dealer discounts

Do you think the whole market is slowing down? We have had our 2006 prestige 32 on the market at a good price and not a sniff We got our Prestige from SMB, they are a great dealership and do have offers from time to time, I think we just missed a fishing trip somewhere in the states when we got ours.

Think anyone would be a head case to buy a moboat this year, fuel prices through the roof, resale almost imposible and the weathers making them unusable.

I think it's got to be slowing down. It seems that almost every other UK market is slowing down so I don't see why the boat market should be immune especially since boats are a discretionary luxury purchase Having said that, some brokers are reporting brisk sales of Sterling priced boats to European buyers taking advantage of the sick £ and UK boat builders are doing good business selling new boats in Europe also on the back of a weak £. Maybe it would be a good idea to list your boat with a broker who has good exposure in Europe also eg Ancasta, Berthon etc?

Mark,
I think that there is a problem with all flybridge boats of less than 35ft, and that is limited demand. Those that do want them seem to want fisher types like the Antares range and Rodmans. I love the Prestige 32, but would prefer the Prestige 34 Sport Top. Even SWMBO felt a 32ft Fly was too tight.
You will get a buyer at the right price, but you will have to hang in there for someone who wants one, I had a Similar Issue with the Aquador which was a Niche boat. It was not Price Sensitive to sale until it dropped to a certain level, which was 22% drop from where it started!
Good Luck and I see they Sold a stock Prestige 32 HERE I would put a Price to sell at £119,950.......which is £10k cheaper than their current lowest price boat.
Your best bet maybe trying to flog it over the channel as with the Xchange rate that would be a great priced boat!
Cheers
