Finally relaunched yesterday. Had just tied up when a small cruiser with 4 teens on board went spluttering by on outboard which then stopped. Offerred them a line but by the time the skipper had refused the offer, tried restarting several times, the strong wind had blown them out of reach. So, grapped a line and went after them in a tender. Once I had them was able to tow them away from the shallow side of the marina where it is quite rocky. Asked them had they any fenders as was going to try ang get them onto a pontoon. Reply was ' we had one but it fell off'! At this time a large rib came on the scene and i asked them could they take the line because by now wind was making towing difficult. They agreed and off I went back to my boat. Unfortunately while being towed the line fouled the propellor of the rib. Eventually rib got sorted and small cruiser towed back safely. Skippers response was not my fault engine stopped and not my fault their propellor got fouled. 10 minutes later was having a nice glass of black bush when the 4 teens went spluttering by again!

Hmm. How many of us can honestly say we've never done anything silly in a boat? I know when I was younger I did lots of silly stuff when I started boating and it was only the experience gained from such situations that made me the somewhat more safety concious person I am today.

Were they just playing in the marina or did they eventually head out to sea?

Better that they were out in a boat than sitting in front of a computer.

Thank God for short memory
-------------------- Latitude/Longitude - A series of imaginary lines on the Earth's surface, drawn at intervals parallel to the equator (latitude) or the poles (longitude) as an aid to navigation. Since they are invisible, many mariners find them of limited usefulness. (Lubber's Dictionary)
