Anyone have any comment on Midland handheld VHF, I'm getting one (new, guarantee etc., but at a discount) as an interim VHF while I sort the aerial cable, but will be sailing 100NM coastal in the next three weeks so want to make sure it is OK. Thanks.

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. One positive reply. It is not water proof but a pouch was included at the price of €59. The stockist (a friend) liked it better than the other (bigger model) and had the same features. The reply poster said the pouch didn´t last long, but liked the radio. The make is well thought of in none marine circles. Andrew While I was pondering I was given a new St. Horizon 270.(thankyou Santa!) so prob solved.A

I bought one a couple of months ago as i am having problems with the wiring on my fixed vhf,so far its been ok, but the batteries run down pretty quick, it feels a bit fragile so i wouldnt drop it if i were you
