or VERY low cost (compared to chartering).
Look here http://www.1906-twelvemetre.com/
In the summer of 2009, "Kate", a First Rule (1907) International Twelve Metre, needs to do the circuit that spans Newport, Mystic, Buzzards Bay, Eggemoggin Reach, Edgartown, Marblehead, Stonington, Oyster Bay and New York.
Looking for two or three crew who will sail the boat to Newport in June 2009 and participate in the above program. It should be a memorable Summer. Remember, "Kate" is a Symphony in both Spartan and Simplicity.
Mentally fit, fun loving, adventurous types with the price of their own beer should apply.
You can contact the owner & Captain, Philip Walwyn: Email: katedesign2@aol.com Telephone: 869 465 7740 - Fax: 869 465 4555
PS I have no financial interest. . . I can't get the time off to go for the whole summer

Is anyone going, considering going, or even making enquiries of this once in a lifetime opportunity or are we all a Classic Boat collection of armchair sailors?

I've been in touch via woodenboat forum. Seems like a nice guy. Might be going to join them the Classic yacht regatta in St Maarten in January to see if we like each other OK. It's a great deal, so they may end up getting crew from closer to home, but who knows - at least my hat's in the ring!

Would love to sail on her. She is a mighty fine looking vessel. Maybe a charter if she ever gets to the Solent.

Sounds a fantastic opportunity, but I don't know when my exams will finish next summer. Not til July knowing my luck.

Maybe I should have posted this yesterday.
Kate - weather permitting etc - is planning to sail to St.Barths on Friday, overnight then sail to Anguills on Saturday - Anguilla has boat races on Sunday and Monday - then a sail back to St.Kitts on Tuesday.
There was space available for one.
'Curve' the last minute return flight would be cheaper than a charter. was
