Passenger/RoRo required for charter
      #1932083 - 17/07/2008 17:49

Hi, Can anyone help me? I am looking at the possibility of chartering a boat with RoRo facilities to sail from the UK to the port of Leixões/Porto in Portugal next summer for a Historic Racing Championship. The boat must be able to transport aprox 200 vehicles, 30 trucks and 80 to 100 people... I am being told that this kind of boat is impossible to find, but wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction? If you know anyone who can help can you please contact me on donna@teamcoordin8.com or 01904 766787. Thanks, Donna

There aren't going to be many ships of that spec sitting around doing nothing waiting for charter

You could try these people though, their website says they do ro-ro charters

Have you considered the alternatives, such as putting the cars in standard containers and ship them that way?

Thanks - any other bright ideas are appreciated. I realise it's not an easy task I have! :0)

These guys have a ridiculous amount of knowledge and would be able to point you in the right direction. Beware, it'll cost serious money

We did special charters from time to time in P&O Irish Sea, and recently the Irish government chartered a RoPax to bring military equipment and men to Africa.

Thanks for that - I am aware of the costs, we have so far been quoted between 180K and 352K, for vehicle carriage only... :0) I shall keep looking though! Thanks for your help guys! Donna

Hello Donna - I'm late on parade but you could try this company:

Best of luck.
