The Oxford Ditch had an amazing turnout for the last rally of the season especially as the river was running hard, levels were up and we couldn't quite be sure of the weather. On Friday it was seriously being talked about whether the annual sail-past should be canceled as there were going to be few boats and it would be somewhat pathetic. By Saturday we had started double banking. We had already erected another Marquee and joined it to mine and the meal the club put on was super as usual. Lots more arrived by car and Mick Bicknell (Carmic) had brought in a Portaloo so having a dump wasn't a problem for those without boats. Sam (uncle albert) failed to appear so there was plenty of booze to go around. ChrisD and Brayman caused a few raised eyebrows, especially Chris seen here below...

Strewth. Chris has put on weight, must have been all those wild times in Poole, or is that just padding.

I reckon he's got a nasty attack of Vorderman's Disease (see a previous thread)
Well done The Ditch. Typical of that club, if there's any way it can be done, they'll do it. Sorry to have missed it.

I nearly forgot, did you get your apple pie alright? Myself and Dee were on our second portion and thought we were home and dry, when the phone sparked into life and a Nimbus appeared on the horizon at top speed giving chase. We tried to outrun him but it was hopeless, there was a desparate looking character on the helm, we were boarded and had to surrender the apple pie and cheese cake never mind.

That's not the way I heard it. I heard you sneaked away hoping to hide away somewhere and scoff your ill gotten gains, muttering insanely to yourself while stuffing handfuls of pie into your mouth. Luckily for the good people of the Oxford Ditch their Commodore a sober and religious worthy well known for his charitable works gave chase and shot away your main mast thus disabling you, leaping aboard with a triumphant yell he took possession of the pies while you quivered in a corner crying for mercy.

They have a new Commodore?

Now can anybody recommend any non-marking slippers?

Clive is a pious man as can be seen by his bald patch on the back of his head which god gave him as a Monk's Pate. He never swears, takes but a little wine for his stomach's sake and rarely beats his wife. A splendid Commodore for the Oxford Ditch where all members are of impeccable character renowned for their chastity and temperance.
