The session at the weekend was more to do with some improvements to site security...not prompted by an attack I would hasten to add but just part of usual maintenance that IT technology demands by default. In fact we decided not to proceed with the upgrade as it didn't do anything for us on test, hence the shorter than published outage.
In terms of improved performance we have been making many changes to the websites over the past 12 months and that process is ongoing. We are changing our hosting around mid Summer and will continue to refine hardware and software throughout 2002.
As I have learnt to my cost, unlike a magazine where you can at least park it once a month, websites ever evolve and never stop if they are to remain successful - we're now at our highest traffic levels ever so we are, I can assure you, well aware of the need to keep pace (within the boundaries of sensible budgets to keep us in business).
