Solo sailing
      #298476 - 14/01/2003 15:51

Now that the RYA has a more open minded view of single and short handed sailing, at least the expensive ‘top of the range’ type , is there any move to incorporate those skills that single handers must have in the Rya’s cruising training schemes?
I know it is now possible to get a YM offshore ticket as a solo sailor, but you have to pick a sympathetic examiner. How about making it more widely known?

There is no intention of incorporating training for single-handed yachtsmen into the statutory certificate schemes.

However, RYA Racing are looking into the possibility of running an annual clinic for single-handed racers in order to promote good seamanship and best practice.
