"jingle bells jingle bells....."
yep it's that time of year, now at a recent get together it was suggested that there may be interest in a meeting for boaty types in Poole.
further to that, i'd like to propose that at some point on the 11th december people would turn up at dolphin haven, dressed in suitable atire and maybe sip a sherry or two by the fireside in one of the many hostelries along the quay.
anyone interested??

This I should be able to do but, from bitter experience, I can't feed the 5000 however much mulled wine I make! I had 24 mince pies left last year but the wine went in 'seconds'!
I'll try.......
You never know we might even get out the harbour this year..........................

Thought you walked on water 2000 years ago, so a quick wave of the arms you should be able to turn the whole of Poole Harbour into mulled wine. Now to make it warm, that would take a miracle

you'll be there.. i have faith..
more than i have in my wood supplier.... let me down whole sale... now looking for a new supplier of iroko, or mahogany! suggested spending the night in the launch... didn't go down at all well.... so i'll either be in the holiday inn, or on my own!...
hope it's the former, as i think i'll probably need someone to look after me if previous years are anything to go by!
forbsies coming too.... knew he couldn't resist a party!

I think they are trying again.............
RENEWED plans have been floated for dredging Christchurch Harbour and dumping the spoil on Stanpit March and Mudeford Sandbank.
An earlier bid to get Christchurch council's consent as landowner foundered over fears the dredging could open the harbour and river to larger vessels and muddy the waters for spawning salmon and other wildlife.
But these fears have been dismissed by the borough's former coast protection officer Frank Tyhurst who has drawn up the dredging scheme on behalf of the Christchurch Harbour Association and Bournemouth & West Hants Water Company.
He said the operation to dredge some 1,000 cubic metres of material from the sandbar in the middle of the harbour and a similar amount from around the water company moorings at Tuckton Bridge had been planned in consultation with English Nature and the Environment Agency.
The work was needed to remove natural silting up of the navigable channel through the harbour and depositing the spoil - mainly sand - on the eroded Grimbury Marsh at Stanpit Marsh and the Mudeford Sandbank was considered more environmen-tally friendly than dumping at sea or in landfill sites.
Planning applications for the dredging have been made to both Bournemouth and Christchurch councils and if approved the work is scheduled to take place over the winter before the annual salmon migration begins.
Boatyard boss Charles Rossiter, chairman of the Christchurch Harbour Association consortium, said: "It is a pity that this small amount of essential maintenance work has become political. All we are trying to do is make sure the harbour is safe to navigate for the present users.
"We are certainly not seeking to encourage bigger boats here, you would need to dredge the offshore bar for that. We have prepared a very detailed environmental impact assessment which suggests that there is no detriment to the nature conservation value of the harbour."

yes indeed. But the cost of the dredging is such that it is only feasible if both the harbour association and the water company chip in. The water company will only chip in if they get their extra pontoon, and the council is currently blocking that, though it goes to appeal this week.
That end of the saga was on the telly tonight, incidentally. I know the rest of it from chatting to Charlie, cos that's where we moor...

Now if this had been posted on SB I would have guessed a "Crimo cruise" was a typo and meant to read "Chrimbo cruise" but since it's on the mobo forum I suppose the spellings probably correct?
Cheers, Brian.

Well I plan to be around but will only be popping in I suspect rather than fully involved. Please don't book us in for anything. Have a couple of emerging engine issues that may require attention - and may be resolved in 30mins with spanners and attitude........
