Dell Quay dory 13 "Deliquent" Tamar River
      #766196 - 23/06/2005 09:28

My very old and scruffy dell quay dory 13 was removed from its mooring overnight 21/22 June.

It was on a drying running line accessable circa 2.5 hours either side of high water but the numpties that took it chose to do so when the tide was out so they dragged it some 100m or so across the thick gloopy mud, the tracks are plainly visible so it didn't just drift away.

Used primarily as a tender (it's an ideal stable platform for our 2 and 4 year old children) it really is pretty grubby. The port side rubbing strake has detached itself from the hull about a quarter of the way down the boat from the bows, and the starboard side rubbing strake isn't much better.

It had a 1970's/80's Evinrude 15 HP engine with service stickers from both Boating World and Mounbatten stuck to it. I have a note of the engine serial number somewhere safe which at the moment I can't remember where it is....

The steering position/wheel has been removed and the boat is controlled from the tiller steering engine.

There are a couple of old River Yealm mooring permits stuck to the hull.

Most noticable, at the time the boat was stolen, is the boats name "Deliquent" written in large letters down the entire side of both hulls.

It's a long shot because it's probably sitting in someone's garage right now, getting a make over, but maybe someone saw something.

If you did, please PM me.

Many thanks

Tim

I am very sorry to hear of your loss and will certainly keep an eye out. Perhaps if you spot a Red Avon Rover with t/t Selina (old name of boat) in faded letters you can let me know as well. Stolen from outside the Sailing Club at Saltash a few weeks ago... Within hours I realised that estimating £1100 for an Avon Rover on the Insurance form wasn't enough!!!

Hi TC,

Sorry to hear that. There really are some evil bas***ds about aren't there? Will keep a look out for it in my neck of the Tamar (upstream from Cargreen) and will shriek if I see anything.

Hope you get it back and nail the perpetrators.

Cheers Jerry

You have more eyes out there than you imagine. When I lent my boat to someone a couple of months ago, I had more than 15 emails and pms by the monday evening, asking if it was out there without my knowledge - and a phone call from the yard before hand

Will keep an eye open from the ballast pond, will also ask in the mosquito sailing club for you.

Let us know if it turns up though, I don't want the police arresting you in your own boat.
