Since changing to SP2, I have had several intercepts by Norton of "Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win 32 series attempting to accept connections from......." The first was from a site in China, which I blocked, and the next from an unidentified site, so I decided to configure to block any attempt using this process.
What worried me was the recommendation that I should permit this and configure for auto permit? Have I blocked something I shouldnt, or done the right thing?
Not long after blocking this, my internet connection died, and has only recovered after I disabled the Norton Firewall.
any thoughts please

Blocking incoming should be fine. Don't block outgoing though as it may affect C:Windows\system32\svchost.exe which kicks off many processes. One example will be automatic windows updates
