i dont think I have ever heard of such a small boat built in steel.Could you give us some details of her construction,eg how thick are the hull plates etc?
As to wether she is a classic boat ,how long is a piece of string? She has survived nearly 40 years and silhouettes have many recorded epic voyages to their credit.

as far as i can tell without using veriers etc i would think she has 1/8th steel plates with a lot of angle iron frames and stringers, and steel bulkheads ,she has been built to a very high standard of engineering ,and very little evidence of rust pitting which i find incredible ,must have been very very well looked after over the years ,apparently there where several constucted in steel ,but this seems to be the onlty known surviver

Try posting a question to the Roach Sailing association here.
Roach Sailing Assoc
They have been around a long time, and have a good knowledge of these sort of things, especially as unusual as a steel Silhouette. There are quite a few round here ( I live near the Roach, 4 miles from Rochford). Sorry, but this one is a bit before my time.
Good Luck
Jim

There is a lot of nonsense talked about what is an isn't a classic boat. If she's a classic in your eyes then a classic she is.
