Default Reclaiming duty when going abroad

Have a look http://www.modernpilot.com/index.php...&Itemid=27 and wonder if Gordon will stop it?
Always wondered why boats can't do the same.

Interesting idea, no good going to France as its still part of the EU, but might be worth someone doing a Channel Islands trip and slapping a form in for the duty and VAT.

You can claim it back flying to France, strange as you say, but you can. Claimed it back many times.

The only web site I found is this one which seems to state leisure craft cannot claim back duty.

May be this doesn't cover trips outside the EU though?
