Interesting idea, no good going to France as its still part of the EU, but might be worth someone doing a Channel Islands trip and slapping a form in for the duty and VAT.

You can claim it back flying to France, strange as you say, but you can. Claimed it back many times.

Boats can do the same. If you are sailing to outside the EU you can reclaim buty.
I can't remember the website where it tells you how to do it tho'Orrabest

The only web site I found is this one which seems to state leisure craft cannot claim back duty.

May be this doesn't cover trips outside the EU though?
