When heading East to West across the pond, there's that old saying that says something like "When the butter melts, turn right". Would it be safe to say we could use the converse as a method of finding Falmouth?

Hm, well it sounds more promisngthat the sextant.

I suposethe hardness of the butter gives the latitude, and if we use exactly the same amount of butter each day we'll have the longitude? Or maybe para could eat a slice of bread and butter each hour for greater accuracy. Actually, slicing it into sixty soldiers and buttering each one would give us the degree and minutes as well.

My back-up method is to buy the EXACT right amount of rope to reach from bermuda to azores frinstance, then head west and go to sleep for a week or so confident in the knowlegde that we will stop just short of the islands. If the boats stops and no island we put the rudder half over and it will come round to the azores eventually.

If you stick a few servo thingies onto the controls and a weblink, more than happy to steer from here. Then you can all sit back and relax, while we log on and all try to take over and steer in different directions
