I am planning to do the annual service on the engine of my 2002 Bavaria 36 this weekend (i think it's the MD2020 19hp). I have a copy of the workshop manual but cannot find a simple checklist of what I need to do. I plan the following:
Change the oil and fuel filters
Change oil
Clean air filter
Adjust valve clearance
change impellor
change fan belt
check anti freeze
I will change the saildrive oil when she comes out
Have I missed anything?
Thanks

That pretty well covers it, just go over all of the hoseclips and electrical connections and engine mounts for security.

Re: Volvo MD 2020 Servicing
You should have a Volvo Manual with your boat that describes in detail all the above steps.
One step you have missed, but may do more often, is to check and clean the sea water filter. Another is to clean salt out of the Vetus anti-syphon valve.Tony

Re: Volvo MD 2020 Servicing
Have a good look at the air filter; it will be a sponge type (if it is like mine) and one year I found mine starting to disintegrate and needed replacing not just cleaning.

Re: Volvo MD 2020 Servicing
Watch out for oil specs. I had a lot of difficulty getting pure mineral oil for my engine as most of the stuff on the shelves is either synthetic or semi-synthetic. I eventually got mine from a farm machinery specialist, although I'm assured that Halfords do a mineral oil and I must've walked past it on the shelves.
Grow old disgracefully, it's more fun

Re: Volvo MD 2020 Servicing
My air filter needed replacing so I spoke to the local Volvo main agents. They said 'take the sponge piece out and throw it away - it just disintegrates over time and the bits get drawn into the engine'.

Re: Volvo MD 2020 Servicing
The coolant ( a mix, I think 50:50, of water and antifreeze) should be changed every 2 years.

Motor factors almost always stock branded mineral oil, e.g. Comma.
