Default Am I stuck in my boat?

I have decided to part company with my wonderful Fairline Turbo 36. (sob)

The trouble is, what on earth can I buy to replace her?

She cost us £80k (spent shedloads since) and for that we get 7 berths, a cabin&heads at each end (guest cabin as slept in by TCM), and one of the best seaboats ever. 1985, two owners, and 26 kts.

We want something few years newer, and a bit faster, but we only have £120k max to spend.

Most of the aft cockpit boats we have looked at have pokey accomodation by comparison. Master cabins smaller than my guest cabin etc.

Thought about a Princess 45 or a Fairline 43/45.

Maybe a Princess 435 but you don't seem to get that much more compared to the extra cost.

I want to stay mainstream if poss.

Any ideas?

Only £120k - erm, well, how about over 12 boats like mine ??

Or you could buy my boat 12 times

Why not talk to Byron about his 435? He might even take the Turbo in p/x and save you the brokers 8%!

\\\cant say i'd ever want to part with mine. Keep steadily re equiping with new upholstery and things. But surprisingly dont want it any different. Eventualy theres just the two of you. not worth putting to much energy into three or four of you. It does not last more than ayear or two. Dont spend money on kids they very soon escape the nest and want other things you cant or wont give

Cant see the point in keep buying a newer boat. Once of course youve found some thing decent that does what you want it to. Just put some new carpets in and get the upholstery man in. Maybe swap a few gismose for newer ones. Give it a good polish. Just like new again. Change it's name??

Still think the 36T is a cracking boat .Doubt that anything newer could be better.
Looks were spot on.You only have to see the sort of prices they command s/h.

Why not buy a later turbo with 306 hp 61a engines or try and find one of the last ones they built with 340hp 62a series engines, they had a revised interior with walnut dash and many other nice touches, that way you still get a good boat for the money, Princess 435 a cracking boat buy one with 380 71b engines will give 25knot cruise speed, how about a Broom 37? you may get one with sabre 275 or 306 volvos for 120 if you are lucky, I know where there is one with 200hp volvos in now you would not believe it but it cruises all day at 19 knots at 3500 rpm, and its immaculate.
Princess 45 a bit dated now cabins not as good as what you have got in the stern, Fairline are nice not as dated at same year, some good ones about at the moment try to find one with 375 cats in the best engine option for this boat, but not the 425 version, they had big trouble with them.
I am looking for a boat myself at around the 100k mark so I know how difficult it is to find something.

We went from a Turbo 36 to a P435 a few years back and we thought it was a worthwile move for a number of reasons. Although the T36 is an excellent sea boat, the extra 4-5' of the 435 makes the 435 smoother in a head sea. The flybridge is bigger with better seating and there's better cockpit seating. The accomodation is bigger with a separate dinette/third cabin which we thought well worth having. The 435 also has decent exhaust silencers unlike the 36
The 435 is a classic like the T36. I agree with Paul, though, go for 71A or 71B engines for decent speed, the boat is a bit heavy for 61A's
