Re: So, now fuel is over £1 per ltr. on the forecourt
2p per litre (or about 80p per fill up) so I won`t buy The Times (70p) when I fill up.
With most cars it will make no difference - I can`t see me selling my Jag to save 80p.
But.......when it comes to boat fuel consumption I can forsee some pain or lifestyle changes ahead

Re: So, now fuel is over £1 per ltr. on the forecourt
IMHO the marine industry has walked right into all this with a certain amount of arrogance and ignorance. The main problem however is HMG who have walked us into a system whereby the EU controls many asoects of legislation.
I do not hink the population of any large country in the EU supports what their governments have done hence the inability to get the constitution past that population and now the attempt to skin the cat another way.
I think incredibly high fuel prices will have a huge impact. A 300 gallon tank IMHO will cost about £1600 to fill up next November and that will hit home really hard.
Last year MBY advertised 80,000 plus boats for sale - it now advertises 100,000 plus.

Why not the new VW ( blue badge ? ), you get free car tax as it's below the 100 what ever level, nearly 70 mpg, and uses a standard diesel engine.
Is this the way for boat engine manufactures to go.

But its still our Westminster government who has decided to hammer us with high fuel taxes. Elsewhere in the EU fuel taxes are much lower. Maybe I won't bother coming back from Spain.
