Finally feel a real member of the 2% club. We are having in a beer in St Martin lagoon (Shrimpys bar). WiFi is so poor here you really have to go ashore to get close to a hot spot. Boat was deliverd on time and we've spent a fortune in the chandleries here, but tomorrow we set off proper to St Barts, then St Kitts and Antigua for Christmas. Just like to say thanks to all who gave offered advice, In particular we invested in a KISS wind generator and that seems pretty good - quiet and a good charger. We'll try to stay in touch with the forum but it can be fairly sporadic depending on the Island.
Oh and the rum really is cheap

Have a drink at the St Maarten YC when the bridge opens at 17:30 (IIRC!) Blow the conch as the megayachts squeeze through.

Re: Having a beer in Shrimpys
Best burgers on the island used to be at Lagoonies, down by Budget marine. Bit of a dive but good cheap food.
At the other end of the scale , Le Chanticleer, on the French side in the harbour gave us one of the best meals we have eaten anywhere in the world.....somewhat pricier though!

Glad to hear you made it - see you've got your priorities right!
All the best and keep us posted. Nice picture on the blog, but then again we've had weather just like that since you left Every silver lining has a cloud...

I know that biker gangs used to call themselves the 1 per centers (as opposed to the 99 per cent who were law abiding). But what are the two per centers?

Re: Having a beer in Shrimpys
Say Hi to the dutch couple who run the dive operation on St Barts, great diving, especially on the wreck night dive seeing the turtles, and snorkelling on the sunken harbour wall behind the boat! those were the days...and if you have the energy its worth a walk up and then down into the crater.
Have a good trip, I won't be there this year, maybe next.
