    Default Raymarine Life Tag System

I have it on good authority that this system can be installed and linked to a chartplotter other than a Raymarine one. Anyone know anything useful about this?

There are other systems that are available other than the Raymarine unit that you could consider.

Mc Murdo do one as do Guardian

The RNLI is installing MOB Guardian on my boat for my Round Britain. I am solo and so having a system that automatically fires off an altert to a central control room if I go overboard will be a great comfort.

The system is designed initially for fishing boats but I am hoping that it is developed for the leisure market... it is a truely great system.

I have life tag & a simrad chartplotter so would be interested if this is possible as I was told it wasn't. Good system as a stand alone though, & if I went out alone I think I would have a stand alone PLB instead.

Looks like you can easily run it without a Raymarine plotter and just an alarm.

But as this runs on SeaTalk I am not sure how you would interface to a third party plotter.

Potentially you could run http://www.raymarine.co.uk/products/lifetag/e12185/ to the http://www.raymarine.co.uk/products/...nd-dpu/e22055/ converter thingie...it handles a lot of NMEA sentences...but not sure what "MOB identifier+Lat+Long" looks like in NMEA...
