Which car will tow my boat best? I currently have a 2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6. I have been offered a 2003 Toyota Amazon 4.7 v8. The car will mainly be used for towing the boat so I am not concerned about fuel, just which is the best car for the job.
The Boat is a 2007 Bayliner 265 on a SBS Trailer. Total dry weight including the trailer is 3.2 tonnes
I have always had LandRovers is the past and towed the boat back from the lakes with the Discovery but cant help but think the Landcrusier might do it better.
Does anyone have any similar experiences?
Thanks

Toureg V10 Tdi, if it can pull a 747, then a little boat is no problem.

Seriously tho, no problem pulling that weight.

Re: Best Tow car for 3.5 Tonne Boat
Thanks for the reply. I am seriously tempted to get the Landcrusier, I thought it would be much heavier/bigger than the Discovery but searching the web tonight they seems alot closer in size/weight than I thought.
The Toureg is good I am sure but not on my list and too much money for my intended use of mainly towing the boat.

Re: Best Tow car for 3.5 Tonne Boat
After much experience, towing all sorts of stuff, mostly elegal. Yes weights up to jumbo sizes.
Most anything will pull 3.5 tons, some better than others. Stopping it, or controling it, is a whole different ball game.
Forgetting the legal angle. Just how far is this tow and at what speed. Around town carefully, one thing. 100 miles at 60mph quite another.

Re: Best Tow car for 3.5 Tonne Boat
Range Rover (Proper one not sport) has a towing weight of 3.5 tonnes and is excellent.
Nissan navara has a towing weight of 3 tonnes, so would probably do it as can also take a tonne extra on the flat bed (sow should be able to cope with stopping the extra 200kg)
Can check on the towing weight of the Amazon at work tomorrow if you lke.
Also beleove the Merc ML has a 3 toone plus towing capacity.Come to the next wokingham forum pub meet:
