Poor guy, just looked at the weather on magicseaweed.com and he is going to get SW winds, as well as big swell. Very unusual weather for this time of year. We have had strong trade winds all week here (st Maarten) since Monday blowing between 40 and 20kts and it is still going, albeit dropped a bit now. Weather this season has been just awful.

Hopefully he wont get SW winds for too long - perhaps going round more to the NW?
This seems to be what Radio France are saying re their forecast:

CAP BLANC, CAP TIMIRIS :
Secteur Nord 3 à 5, revenant Sud-Ouest à l'extrême nord-ouest en
fin de période. Mer forte par houle de Nord-Ouest.

CAPE VERDE :
À l'ouest : Nord à Nord-Est 4 à 5 ; à l'est : Nord à Nord-Ouest 3 à 4. Mer forte à l'ouest, mer agitée à l'est, par houle de secteur
Nord. Grains orageux avec fortes rafales à l'extrême sud.

He is probably approaching the Cape Verde region now - I dont think he will have reached the Western Trades yet. Their forecast is :
ALIZES OUEST :
Nord-Est 4 à 5, localement 6 au sud-ouest au début, revenant
bientôt Nord-Ouest à l'extrême nord-est, mollissant 3 à 4 au nord en fin de période. Mer agitée à forte.
