Hi I wondered if anyone knows the procedure for obtaining replacement Volvo Penta KAD 44 keys? The boat is currently docked in Spain and one of the keys has gone missing, the boat was recently purchased from the UK but arrived with only 1 set onboard.
Thanks in advance

Re: Lost Volvo Penta Keys
Cheapest way to solve this will be to buy a replacement barrel and keys off ebay - they do come up fairly frequently.
cheers

On a similar thread ....
Could do with getting some spare VP ignition keys ( 2 x 2 ) c.1993 panel.
Anyone any ideas on cost / availability or alternative sources ?

Have a look through your paperwork for numbers like 0ISBN they are Volvo key numbers and Volvo should get one to you in a couple of days.
When new the boat would have had 2 sets of keys. Contact the broker and if possible original owner.
Failing all that ...new barrel as suggested.
Huge bad luck though.

A couple of years back someone on this forum suggested that they were the same as the car. Haven't tested it out but worth a try....report back please if successful.

If you get stuck, or a temporary solution is to remove the barrel and drill out one pin, this allows you to remove the tumblers, then any volvo key including old type [144/244] car ignition keys will operate the switch.

Re: Lost Volvo Penta Keys
I think that without the numbers new switches will be the volvo answer
you can buy sets of 2 or 4 switches all with the same keys and are less expensive than individual switches
why is it that boatbuilders dont fit them ?
